DETAILED ITINERARY Gokyo Ri Trek

Arrive in Nepal, where the energy of Kathmandu and the distant promise of the Himalayas welcome you to the beginning of your journey.

After breakfast, meet your Trek O’Clock guide for a detailed trek briefing.

Begin your Himalayan journey with a scenic flight to Lukla.
The flight offers beautiful views of hills, valleys, rivers, and distant snow-covered peaks before landing at Tenzing-Hillary Airport.
After meeting the porter team in Lukla, begin trekking along the Dudh Koshi Valley.
The trail passes Chhuplung, Thado Koshi, Ghat, prayer stones, mani walls, suspension bridges, and peaceful village landscapes before reaching Phakding.
This first trekking day is gentle and designed to ease you into the rhythm of the mountains.

Today the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River through beautiful Sherpa villages including Toktok, Benkar, Monjo, and Jorsale.

At Monjo, enter Sagarmatha National Park, the protected mountain landscape surrounding the Everest region.

After breakfast, hike toward Everest View Hotel, a famous viewpoint above Namche Bazaar.
On a clear day, enjoy wonderful views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde Ri, and surrounding Himalayan peaks.
Return to Namche for lunch and spend the afternoon exploring local bakeries, mountain shops, cafes, museums, and the lively Sherpa trading town.
This day follows the important mountain principle of climbing higher and sleeping lower.

Leave the main Everest Base Camp trail and begin following the quieter route toward the Gokyo Valley.

The trail climbs toward Kyangjuma and the Mong La ridge, offering beautiful views across the Khumbu landscape.

This area is also known for Himalayan wildlife, and lucky trekkers may spot Nepal’s national bird, the colourful Himalayan monal, as well as musk deer or Himalayan tahr.

After crossing scenic ridgelines and descending through forested sections, continue through small settlements and yak pasture landscapes before reaching Dole.

The atmosphere becomes quieter and more remote as you move deeper into the Gokyo route.

Today the trail follows the side of the valley through increasingly open alpine terrain.

As you gain altitude, forests gradually thin and the landscapes become wider, colder, and more dramatic.

Pass through areas such as Lhabarma Kharka and Luza before continuing along the ridge toward Machermo.

The views of the valley are beautiful, and Cho Oyu begins to dominate the distant skyline.

Machermo is a peaceful high-altitude settlement surrounded by mountain scenery, making it an important overnight stop before reaching Gokyo.

Today is one of the most beautiful days of the trek.

The trail continues through high alpine landscapes toward the Gokyo Valley, passing Pangka and approaching the vast Ngozumpa Glacier.

As you move higher, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with glacier-made rivers, rocky trails, and beautiful lakes appearing along the route.

The turquoise Gokyo Lakes create one of the most stunning natural settings in the Everest region.

Continue to the eastern shore of Dudh Pokhari, where the village of Gokyo sits peacefully beside the lake.

As you descend, the air becomes warmer and the landscape gradually softens from high alpine terrain into yak pastures and mountain settlements.

Arrive at Dole for a peaceful overnight stay.

Continue descending through the beautiful Gokyo Valley route.

The trail passes through rhododendron and pine forest, Sherpa settlements, yak pastures, and scenic viewpoints before gradually reconnecting with the main Everest trail.

Depending on route conditions, you may pass areas such as Phortse Tenga, Mong La, and Kyangjuma before returning toward Namche Bazaar.

Arriving back in Namche after many days in the high mountains feels like a celebration.

Today is the final trekking day.

Descend from Namche through forests, suspension bridges, river valleys, and villages including Jorsale, Monjo, Phakding, Ghat, and Chhuplung.
