There is a moment on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek when the mountains suddenly rise around you from every direction — silent, immense, and impossibly close.

The forests disappear behind you. Snow glows gold beneath the first light of morning. The air becomes thinner, colder, quieter.

And for a few unforgettable moments, the Himalayas feel completely still.

This is the experience that continues drawing travellers from around the world to Nepal’s Annapurna region.

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek combines dramatic Himalayan landscapes with genuine cultural encounters and rewarding trekking days. Unlike harsher expedition routes, this journey balances adventure with warmth, comfort, and accessibility — making it one of Nepal’s most rewarding trekking experiences.

Your journey begins in Kathmandu before travelling toward the lakeside city of Pokhara and deep into the Annapurna region. The trail gradually unfolds through terraced hillsides, bamboo forests, riverside villages, and high alpine valleys.

Along the way, you’ll share tea with locals, cross suspension bridges above glacial rivers, and witness life in remote Himalayan communities where traditions remain deeply connected to the mountains.

At 4,130 metres, Annapurna Base Camp delivers one of the most extraordinary natural amphitheatres on Earth. Surrounded by Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna South, the sense of scale feels almost unreal.

This is not simply trekking in Nepal.

This is immersion into the rhythm of the Himalayas.

Himalayan Peaks You’ll Witness Along the Journey

One of the most unforgettable aspects of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is the constant presence of the Himalayas around you.

From the first distant ridgelines near Pokhara to the towering glacier walls surrounding Annapurna Base Camp itself, the landscape evolves dramatically each day — revealing some of the most legendary mountains on Earth.

At sunrise, snow-covered summits glow gold above the clouds. By evening, the peaks fade into deep alpine silence beneath star-filled Himalayan skies.

Throughout the journey, you will encounter the following iconic mountains:

DETAILED ITINERARY Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Arrive in Nepal, where ancient temples, hidden courtyards, and distant Himalayan horizons set the tone for the adventure ahead.

A Trek O’Clock representative will warmly welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The remainder of the day is yours to rest, explore nearby streets, or prepare for the journey ahead.

Travel west through river valleys, terraced hillsides, and countryside villages toward Pokhara — Nepal’s relaxed lakeside city beneath the Annapurna range.

After arriving, enjoy a peaceful evening beside Phewa Lake surrounded by cafés, mountain reflections, and fresh Himalayan air.

Your Himalayan journey truly begins today.

After driving into the foothills of the Annapurna region, begin trekking through terraced farmland and traditional mountain settlements before climbing the famous stone stairways to Ulleri.

As the elevation rises, the first close Himalayan views begin appearing across the valley.

Walk through dense rhododendron forests, moss-covered trails, and quiet mountain landscapes toward the historic village of Ghorepani.

In spring, the forests burst into colour beneath towering Himalayan ridgelines, creating one of the most atmospheric sections of the Annapurna region trek.

Before dawn, hike to Poon Hill for one of the Himalayas’ most iconic sunrise experiences.

As morning light slowly ignites Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, the mountains reveal themselves in layers of gold, shadow, and drifting cloud.

After returning for breakfast, continue trekking through forest ridgelines toward Tadapani.

Descend through forested trails before crossing suspension bridges above glacial rivers and climbing toward the Gurung settlement of Chhomrong.

From here, the trail begins leading deeper into the Annapurna Sanctuary.

Follow the Modi Khola valley through bamboo forests, cascading waterfalls, and increasingly dramatic alpine terrain.

The atmosphere becomes quieter, cooler, and more remote as the mountains gradually close in around the trail.

Continue ascending through high Himalayan landscapes beneath steep cliffs and glacier-carved valleys.

As vegetation begins thinning at higher elevations, the scenery transforms into raw alpine wilderness.

Today you arrive at the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary.

Pass Machhapuchhre Base Camp before entering a vast Himalayan amphitheatre surrounded by Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, and the sacred Machhapuchhre peak.

As evening falls across the snow-covered mountains, experience one of the most unforgettable overnight stays in the Himalayas.

Wake early for sunrise over the Annapurna Sanctuary before descending through alpine valleys and forest trails toward Bamboo.

The return journey reveals entirely new perspectives across the landscape.

Descend through Chhomrong before reaching Jhinu Danda, where natural hot springs beside the river offer the perfect recovery after days in the mountains.

Later, drive back to Pokhara and enjoy a comfortable evening by the lakeside.

Travel back to Kathmandu through Nepal’s scenic hill country.

In the evening, celebrate your Himalayan journey with a farewell dinner hosted by Trek O’Clock.
